Peer Mentor Profile

Sonia Israilov

Sonia Israilov, 2021/2022 Peer Mentor

Hello! My name is Sonia Israilov, I am a 4th year nursing student at York University. I have previously attained a degree in Kinesiology and Health Science at York University as well. In the future I hope to work within the pediatric field, as I have found this area to be my passion since my first placement at Seneca! I have volunteered at Mount Sinai Hospital in their post-partum unit and fracture clinic. I also have experience volunteering as a medic in an ambulance program in Israel. I am the eldest of 5 children and one of the first in my family to pursue a university degree and career in the medical field. Aside from volunteer work and student life, I enjoy the outdoors the most and going on runs! Overall, as I am on my second degree, I have a deep understanding of the hurdles students face and the importance of being able to reach out to someone for guidance. I have learned that it is important to lean on those who can provide you with healthy coping strategies to help you reach your potential and be successful as a student.
